Be inspired by the outdoors by creating art Plein Air! Students will be guided on how to paint from life using techniques created by the masters to create a composition entirely their own. No prior experience required and all materials are included.

This studio style class will give students the opportunity to work on independent projects throughout the Summer, with lessons taught throughout the course. Join us for an Art Wellness class designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s. The goal of this class is to help you express yourself and connect with others in a supportive environment by setting aside time to experiment, explore, and find an outlet through artmaking. No prior art experience is required to participate and all materials are included. All participants who pay to reserve their seat and attend will be reimbursed by West York for participating in this program. 

This course is affiliated with the Andrew Duarte Public Safety Art Gallery at West York’s Borough Office.

Learn inking and illustration techniques from acclaimed comic artist Mark Schultz in this 3 hour masterclass! Mark Schultz is an American cartoonist, illustrator and author who works with varying combinations of pictures and words, depending on the story. His interest in adventure fiction and the sciences led him to create his award-winning Xenozoic Talescomics series, which has remained in continuous print for over three decades. In collaboration with paleontologist Dr. Michael J. Ryan he created the comic book miniseries SubHuman. He has illustrated a collection of Robert E. Howard’s Conan of Cimmeria and written the science primer The Stuff of Life: A Graphic Guide to Genetics and DNA, as well as scripted a four year run on DC’s Superman, Man of Steel. His illustrated novella, Storms at Sea, was released in 2015. Currently, he writes the adventures of Prince Valiant for King Features Syndicate while working on a sequel to Storms at Sea.

Students will experience a demonstration and have time to make artwork during this class. All materials required are provided and no prior experience is required.
