Become a Volunteer at Creative York
Creative York has several volunteer opportunities available. From lending a hand in our galleries, to helping at our special events, to assisting with art programs and camps, there is a place for you in our fun and creative organization!
Our current volunteer opportunities include:
Art in the Parks Assistants
Art in the Parks is a free, summer program offered at various York City parks. Designed for children ages 3 to 12, this program brings the arts to children’s neighborhoods, breaking down barriers to a quality arts education.
We currently are seeking Art in the Parks Assistants for the summer of 2022. If you have some spare time and would like to support the local arts community, consider volunteering for Art in the Parks. You do not have to commit to the entire schedule — volunteering for a week, a day, or a collection of days is greatly appreciated too.
Gallery & Office Volunteers
From classes and camps, to outreach programs, to gallery exhibitions, there is always something happening at Creative York. Support our daily operations by volunteering in our gallery or office. Responsibilities could include welcoming gallery guests, helping hang exhibitions, or performing simple administrative tasks. Gallery and office volunteers are needed year-round and do not have to commit to a set schedule. Any help is appreciated and valued!
Special Event Volunteers
Creative York hosts several special events and fundraisers throughout the year and seeks the support of our volunteers to ensure these events run smoothly. Currently, we are looking for volunteers to help with our fall, fundraising gala, Art in Residence. Volunteers will be needed Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23, 2022. Responsibilities could include helping set up and tear down, checking in guests at the door, helping manage the live and silent auctions, and other tasks.
Summer Camp Assistants
If you are passionate about the arts and love working with children, apply to be a summer camp assistant. Duties could include checking in students, escorting them to/from bathrooms, engaging and assisting students in activities, and more. This is a great opportunity to connect with local young artists and help promote our mission of spreading creativity throughout York County. This opportunity is ideal for high school and college students looking to gain experience in art education and community development. Volunteers do not have to commit to helping with every summer camp. Any help is appreciated and valued.
Please note anyone over 18 years of age must obtain child abuse clearances and a criminal background check for both the Art in the Parks and Summer Camp volunteer opportunities. Call us at (717) 848-3200 or contact us online for more information on obtaining clearances.
Volunteering with Creative York is a rewarding and inspiring use of time, and stimulates a sense of community among our students, teaching artists, and volunteers. Consider becoming a volunteer today!
