Donna Sylvester: Embodied

September 17-November 7, 2026

For more than 50 years, Donna’s creative practice included writing and visual art centered around a few central metaphors. One is the vessel —a container, a boat, or a space through which something can move. Another is the membrane—the web of threads, both energetic and physical, that make up the fabric of the world. There were also site-specific installations and other ephemeral works that existed beyond the studio and included communal experience.

In this exhibit, she will offer a vision of how the deep intention in all her work is connection and healing.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, September 17 from 6-8pm.
