Art with Heart

Art with Heart is a fundraising event that includes dozens of featured artworks from notable local and regional artists. For the first time this year, art collectors have donated works to be included in the auction! Proceeds from Art with Heart will directly benefit Creative York’s mission to inspire the community through arts education, gallery experiences and outreach programs.

Our online silent art auction, Art With Heart, will begin on Thursday, February 22 and run through Friday, March 2! During this time, community members and art enthusiasts are invited to bid on a variety of exceptional artwork at awh2024.givesmart.com. The exhibit will remain on display and available for purchase through Saturday, March 23. 

An opening reception for the art exhibit and silent art auction will be held at Creative York on Thursday, February 22 from 6 to 8pm. All are invited to attend this FREE event!

Susquehanna Inspired: 3 Centuries of Artistic Interpretation

April 4-May 18, 2024

The Susquehanna River is one of the great rivers of the United States and one of the earliest to be explored. Curated by York County artist, Rob Evans, and partnering with the Lancaster Conservancy, Creative York will feature artwork, spanning 3 centuries, about the Susquehanna River and the surrounding land in Lancaster and York counties.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, April 4 from 6 to 8pm.

Wilfredo Valladares

May 30th-July 20, 2024

Our annual solo exhibit features artwork from an artist living outside of York. This solo exhibit will feature works by sculptor, Wilfredo Valladares. Valladares was born in Trujillo Colon, Honduras, Central America. He began his career as an artist and educator. Wilfredo arrived in the United States in the early nineties where he continued his journey as an artist by attending Montgomery College, then Maryland Institute College of Art and graduating with a BFA in sculpture. He pursued and received an MFA in sculpture at the University of Maryland. In 1997, Wilfredo had his first international sculpture show in Milan, Italy where he had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse community of artists and curators. Wilfredo’s work is designed to cross boundaries and to move beyond the traditional paradigm of crosscultural art. A recent installation and one of his most notable commissions, “Journey : Anacostia,” — located in the historic neighborhood of Anacostia in Washington, DC — explores the interconnectedness of cultures.

Creative York Adult Juried Art Exhibit

August 1-August 31, 2024

Annual juried exhibition featuring various artwork selected by an outside juror. Participation in the Adult Juried Exhibit is open to all artists 18 years or older. Fine art and  Fine craft in all mediums are considered. Entries must be original, completed within the past two years, and not previously shown at Creative York. Work should be of high quality and craftsmanship. Awards totaling $1000 will be presented by the juror. One Best of Show prize of $500 will be given, and up to five Awards of Distinction will be granted by the sole and final decision of the juror.

The awards ceremony and reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, August 22 from 6-8pm during York Arts Week.

 

Carol Oldenburg & Niles Benn

September 5-September 21, 2024

A mini exhibition featuring artwork of established artists local to York. This exhibit highlights the work of Carol Oldenburg and Niles Benn and will include paintings and sculptures.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, September 5 from 6 to 8pm.

 

Under Construction

September 26-November 9, 2024

A behind-the-scenes look at the diverse development in the artist’s process and production. This Group exhibition presents a multidisciplinary showcase of pieces that highlight phases of formation in content and materiality. See the details of the works on view from start to finish. Under Construction will take place during our Writer’s Eye Literary Competition, where writers are inspired to write a poem or short story about a piece of artwork featured in this show.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, September 26 from 6 to 8pm.

 

Gold Star Garden Exhibition

November 11-November 30, 2024

This exhibit will feature artwork created by local artists who participate in the Plein Air event held at the Veteran’s Memorial Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden. Open to artists working in all mediums who are 16 years or older. The Gold Star Garden is a living tribute to all veterans.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Veterans Day Monday, November 11 from 6 to 8pm.

 

Small Works: 12″ & Under

December 5-January 4, 2024

This annual exhibit features over 100 pieces of art created by local and regional artists. All pieces are for sale for under $500. Promoting art as gift giving during the holiday season. Open to ages 16 year or older.

An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, December 5 from 6 to 8pm.
