From gallery openings and artist talks to informal meet-the-artist gatherings, these experiences offer a chance to engage directly with the creative voices shaping our region. Join us in celebrating the process, the stories, and the people behind the work.
Artist Visions Opening Reception
An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Thursday, May 7 from 6-8pm.
A celebration of resilience, tenacity, and hope, this inaugural InSight Arts show brings the journey of visually impaired artists to life, raising awareness and education about vision loss through their powerful expressions. A unique art exhibit featuring the art and journeys of visually impaired artists.
Exhibit runs from May 7th – June 20, 2026

June 6
11:00am – Dr. Matthew Bilder, MD | Ophthalmology Associates of York, LLC, York PA
Vision and Revision: How Artists Adapt to Changing Sight
Using artists throughout history as examples of diseases of the eye, Dr. Bilder will elaborate on each disease and how it affected the vision and style of painting by these well-known artists.
1:00pm – Jennifer Finlan, San Diego CA
Gifted Blind Artists, Crafters, and Knitters (Gifted Back) presents “Knead” More Ceramics: An informative demonstration and inspirational talk led by blind artisan Jennifer Finlan, on her signature sculpture piece, the Finlan rose.
June 13
11:00am – Heather Solesky, Vision Corps, York, Lancaster PA
Tips and Tricks for living with low vision
Vision Corps will be sharing with the community their services for the visually impaired, and for those with low vision. Ms. Solesky will also be discussing aids for living with low vision.
1:00pm – Mary Schultz, York PA
Live demo of intuitive abstract painting by Mary Schultz
Mary, an award-winning artist, will demonstrate the art of intuitive abstract painting. Mary has been diagnosed with closed angle glaucoma. She will demonstrate how vision loss has not affected her creativity or her resilience.

Mark Schultz: Narrative Illustrations
An opening reception will be held at Creative York on Friday, June 26 from 6-8pm.

Mark Schultz is a renowned comic book artist and writer known for his exceptional talent and contributions to various iconic series. Mark Schultz loves a good story, always has. His lifelong interest in the sciences and natural history led him to create the award-winning Xenozoic Tales and co-create the undersea adventure SubHuman, as well as to write such non-fiction projects as The Stuff of Life, a Graphic Guide to Genetics and DNA. He has illustrated a collection of Robert E. Howard’s Conan of Cimmeria and the autobiography of Charles R. Knight, as well as his illustrated novella Storms at Sea.
