Arts Together: Story Book Art
Saturday, May 21 from 10 to 11am
Children ages 5 to 9 and an adult partner are invited to join us at Creative York to read Leonardo and the Flying Boyby Laurence Anholt. The hour-long class will start off in the Kerlin Gallery where the book will be read aloud to all pairs. Then, children and adult partners will break off in groups to create an art activity related to the story!

Try It! Adult Poetry Workshop
Friday, September 16th from 6-7:30pm.
Poetry has been defined as “The best words in the best order”. In this workshop, we will start with a long look at words, what they are capable of doing in a poem and how to use them for the best response from your readers. Feel free to bring your own notebook. Let’s work on writing the best poems in the world, using writing prompts and word banks! Then you can share them with the group, polish them to perfection, and explore contests and journals where your poetry can be published.

Create your own holiday décor! Learn how to use slab construction to create a Christmas tree with cutouts for a candle or light to shine through. Artworks will be fired and cooled in time to pick up before the holiday.

Try It! Paddle Ceramics Teapot Workshop
Saturday, 1/14 from 1-4pm. Ages 15+
Kest teaches the Yixing method of constructing a round teapot form with flat slabs of clay using a paddle and a compass. The small teapots are finished by burnishing the outside (and not glazed) so that the flavor of the tea infuses the pot over time. Students will complete a small lidded pot in the 3 hour session.

Try It! Animal Painting Workshop FREE CLASS
Friday, January 20th, from 6-8pm
Learn how to paint by using a unique, live animal model in this step-by-step workshop! This class is a Paint Night style, with an educational twist! Students will learn elements of shape, color, and design in this introductory class. Students will have a unique finished painting at the end of this workshop. No experience required! This class is free as a part of the Cultural Alliance of York County’s Campaign Kickoff!

Introduction to Wheel Throwing
Wednesdays, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, and 3/1 from 6-8pm. Ages 15+
Work with one of our ceramics instructors to learn the basics of wheel throwing! Participants will learn how to properly wedge the clay, center on the wheel, pull up walls, trim, and decorate their pieces.

Try something new with our Date Night Pottery Class! This is a 2-hour class, from 6-8 p.m., in which students will learn the basics of wheel throwing and creating ceramics in our underground ceramics studio. All students are welcome, regardless of being in a pair or not! Price is $45 for the class per student. All supplies are included
Arts Together: Storybook Art-The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Saturday, January 28th, from 10-11am
Join us on a Saturday morning for this workshop based on the classic children’s book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”! We will read the book aloud in the gallery, and then move upstairs to create a project based on the story as an adult and child pair.
Intermediate Drawing: Portraits and Cloth
