Hope and Healing: A Journey into Light

Closing Reception: Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 6 to 8pm
This exhibition will feature artwork based on Amanda Gorman’s poem “The Hill We Climb.” Artwork will be displayed in both the Kerlin gallery and The Art Lab. Artists are asked to submit up to three pieces in any medium using elements from Gorman’s poem that inspire or connect with them personally.

Creative York believes art is a place for hard conversations and positive creative expressions, understanding different viewpoints and healing. In the words of Toni Morrison, “This is precisely the time when artists go to work.” We are a welcoming organization that supports diversity and embraces people of every walk of life. Our organization inspires creativity through art in the community, promotes peace and dialog.

October 14 – November 20, 2021

While art is used to open our eyes to a world of possibilities beyond reality it serves another purpose as well; art functions as a tool to inspire dreams and visions. The act of expressing dreams and visions is in itself a voyage of self-discovery.

We are looking for works of art by individuals with a dream or vision meant to document an especially meaningful moment of perception for the artist, thereby portraying a different realm of cognition for their audience that is beyond but not isolated from the mundane realities of life.
