Barrett Benica

Barrett Benica is an animator, illustrator, character designer, and storyboard artist with over 17 years of experience. Growing up, Barrett’s best friends were his pencils and his sketchbooks. His hobby carried him to New York where he worked on projects for Nickelodeon, Disney, Mattel, Spike TV, Nick Jr., and more. Currently he lives in York, and works for an online school where he creates animated pieces to help illustrate lessons for students.

Christy Brooks

Christy Brooks has been involved in theatre for over 25 years. She is an actress, playwright, and director in Southern York County, PA. Christy is owner of Theatre Works, LLC, which provides theatre workshops, full-scale productions, STEAM workshops, fundraising productions, and team-building corporate theatre workshops. Christy completed coursework at The University of Maryland, Baltimore County for Fine and Performing Arts.  She holds a degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University.

Phyl Campbell

Phyl Campbell holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Arkansas. She has been teaching and tutoring English, reading, writing, and ESL for nearly 20 years. She’s also an author and a publisher. She wrote her favorite story, Weird Pie, when she was eight. She helps other young people write and publish their stories to inspire other readers and writers at a time when the world desperately needs both.

Ellen Ehlenbeck

Ellen Ehlenbeck holds a BFA in painting from Penn State and a MA in graphic design from Savannah College of Art and Design. A working artist, Ellen has exhibited her work widely in the region, in both solo and group shows, as well as juried exhibitions. She loves to teach, and currently serves as a Resident Teaching Artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, in addition to teaching courses in art history and painting at the Art Institute of York, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and Creative York. One of the four founders of Creative York, Ellen is excited about York’s creative renaissance.

Brittany graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Art Education, specializing in the 2D arts, such as painting and printmaking. She also has experience in ceramics, sculpture, and digital photography. This fall, Brittany will be teaching a beginner painting class.

Christina-FritzChristina Fritz graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture. Christina also works with fiber art, including hand-spinning wool and knitting. She fell in love with the creative atmosphere of an abstract classroom while coordinating the Art in the Park program and looks forward to growing her creative processes and sharing art with many ages.

Stephanie Holmes

Since receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Millersville University, Steph has taught at multiple art centers and traveled to several craft schools around the country to pick up new creative skills. She currently teaches ceramics, drawing, and mixed media collage classes here at Creative York. Steph believes that art education can be essential to someone’s growth as a person and wants to share and facilitate that growth for other people.

Kayla Krebs has been working with Creative York/YorkArts since 2009. She is involved in the Art in the Park program, teaching classes, and gallery sitting. In the past, she has been a judge for the Yorkfest Children’s Exhibit and the Yorkfest Chalk Walk contest. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Kutztown University.

Allison received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Towson University and a Master’s from Millersville University. She lives in Southern York County with her family and has been an elementary school art educator for 20+ years. Currently she teaches for Baltimore County Public Schools in Maryland and has taught there for the last 17 years. Although she has experience in teaching all areas of art, her passion is working with clay. She taught for the Baltimore Clayworks for 4 years and spent 5 summers running her own Creative Clay Camp for kids.
