EMERGING VISIONS
Undergraduate Arts Showcase
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 4 • 6-8 pm
Emerging Visions is a showcase of top undergraduate artists, and will feature work from the following select group of emerging artists: Shane Bahn, Taylor Bielecki, Bonnie Carrow, Jeannine Dabb, Ronelle Erickson, Amber Judy, Leah Limpert Walt, Roth Preap, Danielle Spewak, and Thomas White. This juried exhibit was open to all current undergraduate college students.

PIECES OF US

Opening Reception: Thursday March 1 • 6-8 pm
A group exhibit of artworks by first-generation immigrants to the US from all over the world. Participating artists include: Rosa Luz Catterall (Peru), Erik Diaz (Mexico), Eva Gorski (Poland), Joaquin Calles Guzman (Cuba), Miki Kato-Starr (Japan), Hadiya Khan (Pakistan), Jean Leaman (England), Kayode Malomo (West Africa), Tatyana Nadtochey (Ukraine), Fiel Patricio (Philippines), Andrius Polonikas (Lithuania), Al Fredo RiMa (Chile), Victoria Kageni Woodard (Kenya), Helen Zughaib (Lebanon), and more to be announced.

VIVIDLY YOURS

A Companion Exhibit to Art In Residence: Vivid
Opening Reception: Thursday, May 3 • 6-8 pm
A group exhibit showcasing available works by some of the artists that were featured in our Art In Residence: Vivid event in April – a one-night-only exhibit of works from privately-owned collections. Participating artists are: Rob Evans, Quang Ho, Carol Oldenburg, Sue Reno, Justin Ruby, Dillon Samuelson, Clifton Santiago, Andi Simpson, Adrienne Stein, Rita Whitney, and Brenda Wintermyer.

ART IN INDUSTRY: RUTTER’S – A YORK ICON

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 12 • 6-8 pm
Creative York will be featuring artworks depicting various elements of local York icon Rutter’s in this exhibit celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Artists are invited to choose from categories including Rutter’s Farm Stores / Convenience Stores (from the past or present), fuel pumps stations (past or present), Rutter’s foods and drinks, or portraits of owners Scott Hartman, Tim Rutter, and Todd Rutter.

ELIZABETH MILLER: WE ARE HAIR

Opening Reception: Thursday March 1 • 6-8 pm
Hair is a part of all of us. It is anchored in our skin. We live within it. African American hair styles and designs have enjoyed a rich, multi-hemispheric tradition spanning centuries that are both the product of and a response to the systemic racism and atrocities which African-Americans and their ancestors are all too well acquainted.

CHAD WHITAKER: GHOSTS

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 3 • 6-8 pm
“Ghosts” is a solo exhibition by artist Chad Whitaker. This site-specific installation will be a visual exploration of the subconscious mind influenced by sleep, daydreams, and fantasies. The installation will emerge from the ceiling, walls and floor in an intricate, complex and vivid environment and will allow the viewer to experience a short-term detachment from the familiar, everyday surroundings. Portals and spaces are created where the viewers can dissociate themselves from reality.

DILLON SAMUELSON: THE CASTLE ON THE HILL
Drawings from the former mental asylum at Fergus Falls
Opening Reception: Thursday, July 12 • 6-8 pm
This exhibit features a series of drawings by Dillon Samuelson of and about the former State Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota: a Kirkbride-style asylum for the mentally insane built in the late 1800s. For the month of April Dillon completed a residency through Springboard for the Arts, living on the grounds of the abandoned hospital. There he studied the asylum’s history and created the work shown in this exhibition.

PROJECT : RECYCLE
An exhibit in partnership with Gordon Recycling
Opening Reception and Awards: Thursday, January 25 • 5-7 pm
Artists participate in an art challenge to create artwork from recyclable materials provided by Gordon Recycling.  Finished artwork must be made of at least 75% of recycled material.

Animalia: An Exploration of Animals in Art
Opening Reception: Thursday March 1 • 5-7pm, and Friday March 2 • 5-9pm
This animal-themed group exhibit is a benefit fundraiser for Harvest Vegfest, coming to York on September 22, 2018. Participating artists include: Matthew Clay-Robison, Sue Coe, Meghan Elizabeth, Athena Chantiles, Alice Forde, Erin Toms, Nathaniel Corn, Amanda Clark, Savannah Schroll Guz, Susan Scofield, Michele Ports Gargiulo, and more! The gallery will be open every day from 10-4 during this exhibit.

York College “Kunst and Kultur Exhibit”
Opening Reception: Thurs, March 15 • 3:15-4:15pm
The 3rd annual Kunst and Kultur Exhibit features work by York College students depicting an aspect of the German language or German-speaking culture through a variety of media. Dallastown High School is proud to present this showcase of artworks by Dallastown High School students.

York County Hispanic Coalition: Logo Contest Exhibit
Opening Reception: Friday, April 6 • 5-8 pm
Artists were challenged to design a logo for the York County Hispanic Coalition. All entries will be displayed at Creative York West (118 W Philadelphia St) in April 2018. The winning design will be selected by judges appointed by the York County Hispanic Coalition, and will be announced at the opening reception for the exhibit. The winning designer will win $250 and their design will be used online, in print, and on YCHCmerchandise.

York County Solid Waste Authority Earth Day Recycled Art Contest
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 19 • 6:30-8:30 pm
The York County Solid Waste Authority’s fourth annual Earth Day Recycled Art Contest for York County High School students is an opportunity for teen artists in York to think creatively about trash. Participants are challenged to create works of art from only recycled/repurposed materials with the exception of paints, dyes, adhesives, canvas and mounting hardware. York County businesses, Refindings, and LifePath Christian Ministries have generously donated materials for the students to use in their creations. Entries will be judged on April 19th and announced at that evening’s reception at 6:30. For each winning entry both the student artist and their school’s art department will be awarded art supply gift certificates.

Central York High School is proud to present this showcase of artworks by Central York High School students.

High School Showcase: West York Area High School
A showcase of works in a variety of mediums by students in grades 9-12 from West York High School.

Beautiful Death
Opening Reception: First Friday, June 1, 5-9pm
An exhibit inspired by Death Cafe and The Order of The Good Death, striving to open positive conversations about the often seemingly taboo subject of death.
